Week 06
27 Oct–30 Oct 2026 · Physical computing, sensing and control
Tuesday 27 Oct · CSE101
13:30–16:30 · Z23
Principles
Sensors and actuators; sampling and quantization; noise, calibration, feedback, hysteresis, timing and embedded-system tradeoffs.
Application & programming
Trace C conditions and loops and explain an Arduino onboard-LED sketch. Button input and additional state examples are optional extensions.
Weekly PPTX, code and recordings: in preparation.
Learning focus
Trace the condition/loop and demonstrate input/output. Multiple LEDs, potentiometer and nonblocking timing are optional.
D: do independently · M: explain and modify a worked example · R: recognize, trace and compare.
Revisit: Connect truth values to conditions and hardware.
Wednesday 28 Oct · Recitation
28 Oct afternoon holiday: no assumed recitation. Provide a short worked example and arrange support before the holiday.
Holiday afternoon. Replacement support arrangement to be announced.
Friday 30 Oct · CSE107
Lab 05: Arduino: buttons & LEDs
Modify an onboard-LED Arduino sketch using conditions and loops. Keep hardware setup small during the holiday week.
Attend your assigned two-hour group. Handout in preparation.
Preparation & submissions
No assignment has been released for this page yet. Requirements, permitted assistance and deadlines will appear in the published brief.
The normal Thursday prelab deadline falls on 29 October, a holiday. An adjusted date will be announced.
