Research
My research explores the intersection of
human-computer interaction, usability, and
data visualization, with a technical focus on eyetracking-based cognitive
analysis, software quality, invisible computing,
and interactive systems design. I’m particularly interested in applied and
experimental work that bridges engineering with human-centered design.
I have supervised over 40 master’s and doctoral theses, with recurring themes in cognitive state
analysis, usability modeling,
interactive AI systems, and accessible interface design. For a complete list, see the theses section below.
Ongoing Research Topics
- Measurement of situational awareness in complex tasks
- Real-time cognitive load monitoring using eye, body, foot movement and biometric data
- Usability and security trade-off modeling in software interfaces
- AI-assisted interactive frameworks
- Ubiquitous devices and invisible computing
- Human-AI collaboration and decision support
- Financial technologies in banking and equities market
Selected R&D Projects
-
AI-Supported Drone-Based Highway Safety System (TÜBİTAK 1501, 2023–2025): Academic advisor for a hybrid monitoring platform integrating AI and drone telemetry for real-time traffic risk detection.
-
Semi-Autonomous Bicycle Taxi Design (TÜBİTAK 1507, 2023–2024): Guiding the development of a sustainable, AI-powered urban mobility solution.
-
Multiviz – Multidimensional Financial Data Analysis System (TÜBİTAK 1501, 2015–2016): Led the creation of an interface for real-time financial market analysis based on treemap visualizations and cognitive profiling.
-
TFX Target – Real-Time FX Trading Platform for Participation Banking (2018–2021): Academic advisor for a platform combining financial analytics and user interaction modeling.
Collaborations and Industrial Work
I do work as an advisor and researcher at various companies and R&D centers.
Promote industry-university collaboration through TEYDEB-funded applied research. Founded Industry-University collaboration lab supported by Fujitsu Turkiye and IbTech at the GTU department of Computer Engineering, known as Fujitsu Lab.
I can start and conduct collaboration to companies, bring researchers, students and industry together to make viable projects and foster research.
