FALL 2026 · GEBZE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

Week 07

3 Nov–6 Nov 2026 · Software engineering, functions and arrays

Lecture slides and reading are available above. Recitation and lab requirements follow their published briefs.

Tuesday 3 Nov · CSE101

13:30–16:30 · Z23

Principles

Requirements, decomposition, interfaces, testing, validation and maintenance; designing software around observable behavior.

Application & programming

Use functions, parameters and return values; traverse a one-dimensional array and check its bounds. Higher-dimensional diagrams provide context for Week 8.

Lecture slides and reading are available above. Recordings are in preparation.

Learning focus

Use functions and traverse a one-dimensional array, with further practice in Week 8. Pointers-to-arrays syntax is outside this week’s scope.

D: do independently · M: explain and modify a worked example · R: recognize, trace and compare.

Revisit: Reuse calculations and loops inside functions.

Wednesday 4 Nov · Recitation

Trace arguments/returns, then array elements; revisit conditions/loops.

Start time tentatively 16:30; room to be announced.

Friday 6 Nov · CSE107

Lab 06: Functions & one-dimensional arrays

Complete a helper function over a short array on Arduino, using supplied button acquisition and fixed test data.

Attend your assigned two-hour group. Handout in preparation.
